And in other news

Haven’t written here for ages, but it’s 29th February, and if I can’t find the time to post on my blog with a whole extra day to celebrate, something’s going wrong somewhere!

So, a quick catch up on a few happenings:

  • One of my short stories has been longlisted in the Bare Fiction magazine short story competition. (The results are out and I know it hasn’t got any further.) This same story was previously longlisted in the Bath Short Story Award. So, the message seems to be – Well done! It’s got something about it, but it’s not there yet. I’ll let it settle for a while and then go back to it.
  • The Broken Road has been accepted by the website for readers, LoveReading and will be promoted by them. The reader said: Lindsay Stanberry-Flynn breathes life into characters that have aching vulnerabilities. She occasionally frees notes of emotion that twang and jar and set your feelings on edge, consequently the characters are realistic and convincing.
  • A signed copy of The Broken Road is available as a Giveaway from the website Goodreads. If you haven’t read it yet, or you’d like to give it as a present, why not enter for the chance of a free copy? The Broken Road Giveaway
  • And last – but certainly not least, I’ll be giving a talk on My Writing Life at the The Suffolk Anthology, an independent bookshop in The Suffolks, Cheltenham – above Montpellier. It’s a lovely bookshop, run by Helen Hewett, who is charming. She not only sells books (including mine!), but has wonderful cakes for sale as well. If you’re not too far away, it would great to see you on the 15th – wine included!

Wine and Books – is there a better combination?

  1. Lots going on for you, Lindsay. Looking forward to the Flash Fiction competition this year 🙂

  2. Lindsay says:

Flash fiction competition, the Evesham Festival of Words, teaching – it’s going to be busy and that doesn’t take any writing into account!
