Readers are the cherries!

Last night I went to talk to two book groups in the darkest wilds of Little Witley.

I couldn’t find the exact house at first, and when I stopped to ask, the woman said ‘Have you come for the cherries?’

I didn’t know at that stage, but indeed I had!                Image result for cherries

The people were so friendly and welcoming, and asked lots of interesting questions. After so many hours sitting alone at the computer living with imaginary people, it was lovely to chat to real people who care about characters, who get involved in their lives, and who are fascinated with the whole process of bringing a book to life.

Some of them had read one or other of my novels, and it’s so rewarding to hear someone say ‘I just loved it.’ And afterwards they bought lots of books which was great.

So, what about the cherries? Yes, there were some. The meeting took place at a farm where they also grew cherries. I was given some to bring home, and they are rich and sweet – gorgeous!

But the cherries on the cake for me were the readers. Image result for readersThe people who make it all worthwhile!

The OED has announced new words today. Might ‘cherrifically’ be one of the them, Mo?
