Thought for the Day

I’m supposed to be writing, but I couldn’t resist posting this.

As I wrote last week, I’m struggling to complete my first draft. I’ve set myself the goal of the end of November. I know that’s going to be a huge challenge – 25,000 words in next six weeks, and it took me the last three months to write similar number – so, I need to keep reminding myself

I’m shovelling sand into a box. The castles will come later.

    It’s a great quote Lindsay and very apt. I have calculated that to complete your target of 25,000 words in six weeks you need to write 595.2 words every day. This computes to one sheet of A4 single spaced. Doesn’t seem quite so daunting somehow.
    Of course this assumes you are able to sit down every day and have no other demands on your time. The important thing is to get the story down and then shape and polish it into the jewel that you want.

    Thanks, Diane. No, doesn’t seem too daunting, but the trouble is I can’t write every day. But I should still be able to do it – as long as I get on with it and remember this stage is only shovelling sand!
