‘Not Waving But Drowning’
I seem to be drowning at the moment, the force of everything I’m supposed to be doing pushing me down. The list seems unending. And the worst thing is that the list doesn’t even include the novel I’m supposed to be working on, the novel I’m desperate to get back to.
As an antidote, I’m going to focus on some nice things!
My short story ‘Slivers of My Heart’ has been shortlisted in the Blue Thumbnail story competition. You can read it here: Slivers of my Heart and even vote for it or comment on it. But only nice things – of course!
I wasn’t one of the winners, but I don’t mind. The prize for the winner is full board at a week’s writing workshop on a Greek island. And who would want that as a prize?!
My book ‘A Writer’s Alphabet’, which you probably remember came out of last September’s A to Z blogging challenge, is now out and is available as a print or ebook from Amazon: A Writer’s Alphabet.
If you’re a writer, or you’ve got a writer or an avid reader in your life, why not treat yourself or them to a copy?!
I’m having my website revamped and it will be ready to go live soon. Ooh – scary moment! Change is good – ‘nothing stays without development, growth or decay’ – but change is unsettling. I think/hope I/you/we are going to like it. But it’s not fixed in tablets of stone, so can easily be tweaked.
And last – but certainly not least – fellow Cinnamon author, Caroline Davies, is going to be telling us all about her new book ‘Convoy’, launched last night, in a post later this week. I’m really excited about that.
And writing this has worked: I feel much more positive now – much more like waving than drowning – and ready to tackle that list!
