PG Wodehouse & Comic Relief

On Friday I went to Waterstones in Worcester to read from PG Wodehouse’s Carry on Jeeves. It was to raise funds for Comic Relief and to publicise the first ever Worcestershire Literary Festival, taking place in June this year.

I can’t say I’ve ever thought about reading PG Wodehouse before, although he’s clearly popular. And I wasn’t especially won over on this occasion, but the stories did make me smile occasionally. Perhaps his stories are like the jokes – you had to be there! Or perhaps it’s the anachronistic idea of having a Jeeves who does everything for you.

Hang on a minute – someone to do everything for you? That’s not anachronistic but exactly what I need. I’m off to look for a Jeeves. We should all have one!
