Wonderful, escapist read that will take you on a rollercoaster of emotions as you become totally embroiled in the passionate relationship between Gerald and Vanessa. Lovereading, readers’ website

I loved this book. There was no question of putting it down. I found the subject very close to home – how we only get one shot at parenting, how so many big and little misunderstandings exist between us and our children and how families create myths about themselves. Most fascinating. Di Icke, book group member

I couldn’t put it down. The situation was so nicely set up, I had to find out how it was all resolved. Rachel, anaesthetist

Loved it – the unravelling of a family life of loves and tragedies. The lows and highs unfolded sympathetically and realistically. My attention was held throughout – in fact I could not put it down. HP Walter, retired medic

I finished this book in 48 hours – I was hooked. The storyline was easy to follow and the descriptions of Vanessa’s work so vibrant that I really could picture them in my head. I felt the emotions of the characters to such an extent I found myself begging Vanessa not to meet Gerald, not to let him break her heart again. M Young, bookworm

I read the second half in one night. I loved the ending. The scene where Vanessa takes out the old crocheted dress and sees that it is moth-eaten (the beginning touching the end) was unbearable. Robin, ex-RAF pilot

The story was great and the characters came alive and believable for me straight away. I loved Vanessa and poor mixed up Cordelia, and the settings were beautifully described. Unravelling has all the ingredients of a damned good read. Sylvia Wall, short story writer

I thoroughly enjoyed this lovely book. I tried to read it slowly because I didn’t want it to end. Elisabeth Drake, Italian tutor
